Free fire education for landowners and communities: fire adapted communities work, the Citizen Fire Academy, and support for prescribed burn associations.

The teaching here is aimed at people who are not fire professionals: landowners, ranchers, farmers and the volunteers who instruct them, with the stated goal of cutting risk through understanding rather than through equipment. It covers preparing for a fire, what to do during one and how to recover afterwards, on the house as well as in the woods. If prescribed fire is what interests you, the programme explains what it is, why it is used to improve habitat and forest and rangeland health as well as to cut wildfire risk, what the steps of planning and lighting a burn are, and where you stand on liability in Oregon.
