The 40,000 dollar ADU pre development grant is closed. The last round was fully allocated on December 28, 2023 and it remains closed in 2026. CalHFA warns that any offer to get this grant for you is a scam.

What the money covered was the paperwork end of adding a second unit: site prep, architectural designs, permits, soil tests, impact fees, property surveys and energy reports. If someone approaches you offering to get you the grant, CalHFA asks you to stop dealing with them and to forward any names or phone numbers to marketing@calhfa.ca.gov. Where this comes from
