The district's forest health and wildfire resiliency programme runs fuels reduction projects, coordinates prescribed burning, does wildfire prevention outreach and supports community defensible space work across Monterey County. A named programme manager is the way in.
Running since November 2018, it works mainly through local agencies, groups and stakeholders in the county's wildland urban interface, with funding coming predominantly from CAL FIRE and other state and county bodies.
