Well construction rules and a free well report lookup for any parcel. The exempt well rules allow limited domestic use without a water right.

The well report viewer is worth an hour before you buy or drill. The records hold how a well was built and what the drill went through underground, along with where it is, who the original owner was, who drilled it, and how much water it made, which tells you what a neighbouring well actually yields rather than what somebody remembers. On a new well, be clear that a notice of intent is not permission: it is not a permit, a certificate, a claim or a water right application, and once the well is drilled you may only take water that is legally available.
