Free stewardship planning for owners of five acres or more, including a site visit at no cost, delivered together with the WSU Extension Coached Planning short course.

Five acres is the line for a free site visit. Below that you may still get one if a forester has time, and if not you can still get advice by telephone or email, so a small holding is not shut out. The plan itself is what unlocks things: coached planning, run with Washington State University, helps you write and carry out a stewardship plan, and taking part can qualify you for financial assistance, for current use taxation, and for recognition and certification schemes. There is sometimes money to pay a consulting forester to write the plan for you. It is also worth having for a reason that has nothing to do with tax, which is that it keeps your intentions for the land clear for whoever comes after you. Where this comes from
