Mariposa Free Chipping Program

Free chipping for every resident of Mariposa County, paid for by CAL FIRE: brush you have cut gets chipped rather than hauled away or burned. It is grant funded, so ring and check the current round is running before you spend a weekend cutting.

The material has to have come off the 100 feet round your own inhabited home or off its way in and out, and you have to live in Mariposa County. Stack along a route a truck towing a chipper can get down, not along a county road. Every cut end faces the driveway, every pile is within 10 feet of it, limbs are 6 inches thick or less and no more than 5 feet wide, and the pile is under 4 feet high and free of rubbish and metal. Length does not matter. The council says plainly that piles stacked wrongly will not be chipped, so it is worth walking back down the drive and looking at your pile the way the crew will.
