The Community Action agency for this county runs the Weatherization Assistance Program: a crew comes to the home and does the work itself, insulation, air sealing and repairs or replacement of unsafe heating equipment, at no cost to a household that qualifies on income. The same office takes applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which pays a benefit toward a heating bill, whether the heat is electricity, natural gas, propane, wood or oil.
