Trained UC Master Gardener volunteers give research based advice to San Joaquin County residents on growing fruit and vegetables in the county's climate, identifying and managing pests and diseases, choosing plants for USDA zone 9b, soil health, composting, water wise gardening, lawn care, pruning and landscape maintenance. The programme also runs workshops, demonstration gardens and community outreach, and promotes composting practices that keep organic material out of landfill.
