The county's fire prevention division chips free of charge for residents making their properties more wildfire safe, aimed at defensible space around the home and structures and at the access routes to them. The programme does not collect or remove the chips.
Note what the crew will not take: burned material from past fires, firewood and wood cut into rounds, rotten wood or wood older than a year, poison oak, broom, thorny plants and raked needles or leaves. Limbs must be at least 1 inch thick and no more than 4 inches across, and piles no more than 10 feet from your driveway or the road. A refused pile means booking again. Where this comes from
Who qualifies Properties in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County. Piles up to 3 feet tall, 10 feet wide and no longer than 50 feet, stacked with the cut ends lined up and facing the driveway or roadway.
