Santa Barbara Free Curbside Chipping

Free

Chipping · Free, from Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council

Free curbside chipping funded by CAL FIRE and California Climate Investments, plus roadside tree trimming.

You do not book this one. Neighbourhoods on the south coast are chosen on fire severity, how thick the surrounding fuel is, the lie of the land and what local fire officers say is needed, and the households in them get a postcard with their dates. You cut, focusing on the 100 feet round buildings and roads, then put the branches at the roadside by the deadline for your area. What can be chipped is narrower than people expect: branches longer than 3 feet and under 16 inches thick, cut ends toward the road. Leaves, succulents, pine needles, palm fronds, stumps, thorny branches, vines, bamboo, root balls, grass and small trimmings cannot. Some communities get a green waste skip for the rest, left for about a week. Crews take up to a week in each area. Where this comes from
