The council pays most of the cost of work to meet California defensible space requirements and to remove dead, dying or diseased trees for homeowners in its mountain communities. The homeowner pays a quarter of the project cost and a CAL FIRE grant covers the rest.
Who qualifies Homeowners in the council's mountain communities. The council states there are no income or other qualifying conditions for the main programme, that a defensible space grant is available once every three years, and that a separate low income route runs through the Idyllwild help centre.
How to apply Submit the application for service on the council's site. Its application states that nobody is charged for services unless they sign an agreement after being shown the evaluation.
