Napa County Chipping Program

The county fire department chips brush and tree limbs free of charge for residents of the unincorporated county, to support the 100 foot defensible space around structures and the access routes to them. The crew chips for up to three hours on a single visit.
Before you stack: stems can be 6 inches across at most, piles go within 5 feet of a road or driveway and stay on your own land rather than the public road, and the cut ends face the road. The chips stay with you as well. They are left on the property and must be kept 100 feet from any building. Chipping runs April through October. Where this comes from
Who qualifies Residents of unincorporated Napa County. The service is for residential use and not for a commercial enterprise. Piles containing broom, poison oak, blackberry or anything with thorns are not chipped.
