Modoc County Defensible Space Landowner Assistance

The council's landowner assistance programme creates up to 100 feet of defensible space around a home, or to the property line, at no cost to qualifying participants. The work includes clearing vegetation and debris, pruning and trimming, weed eating in the ignition zone, clearing gutters, felling dead or dying trees and chipping the slash it creates.
The low income route is judged on monthly income, not yearly: one person not over $1,255, a household of four not over $2,600, and the table runs up to a household of seven. Who qualifies Homeowners in the wildland urban interface who meet at least one of three tests: aged 65 or over, disabled, or low income. The council publishes an income table by household size.
How to apply Complete the landowner assistance request form, online or on paper, and post it, or ring the council. The council says the programme runs annually between May and October depending on funding availability.
