Neighbours schedule a chipper day together and the council sends a crew to chip their piles at no charge. An individual can join a waiting list, but a day only runs once enough neighbours in the same area have signed up.
The limit is 5 pick-up bed sized piles at any one property, and the council says plainly that this is not for clearing large properties. Chipper days run year round, and the work covers roadside access through the neighbourhood as well as the ground around the house. Where this comes from
Who qualifies Mendocino County residents clearing defensible space, which the council describes as the 100 feet immediately around homes and structures. The number of piles chipped at any one property is limited.
