The council assesses properties for wildfire risk at no cost anywhere in Lassen County, teaches homeowners what to do about what it finds, and carries out the treatment itself on eligible properties belonging to vulnerable residents. The assessment and the treatment are separate: anybody may have the assessment, the treatment is means and circumstance tested.
The form leaves you room to describe any concerns or challenges on your land, so it is worth jotting those down before you start. Who qualifies Every property in Lassen County is eligible for the free assessment. Treatment is for vulnerable residents, and the sign up form asks the applicant to say whether they are a senior aged 60 or older, low income, disabled or a veteran. The council warns that it works area by area and that a wait should be expected.
