HEAT Home Energy Assistance, Mountainland Association of Governments

HEAT is Utah's home energy assistance benefit, the state's name for the federal LIHEAP programme. It is a one-time payment toward a household's home energy costs, not a loan and not repayable, and a household may apply once during a programme year. It is worth applying early rather than waiting for trouble: the programme does not require a shut-off notice, and HEAT approval is what several of these same agencies want to see before they will schedule weatherization work.
Who qualifies Requires a home you live in. Income-qualified households, applying once per programme year through the agency that covers their county.
How to apply Mail or email the application and verifications to Mountainland AOG HEAT Program, 478 South Geneva Road, Vineyard, UT 84059, or heat@magutah.gov. Phone 801-229-3855. The state's HEAT page says the office is located in Provo.
