Butte County Chipper Program

Free

Chipping · Free, from Butte County Fire Safe Council

Free chipper programme county wide: limbs under 8 inches, piles under 4 feet tall, roadside accessible, and the landowner logs match hours. Chipper Programme Manager Jacque.

The pile rules decide whether your work gets chipped, so read them before you cut. Limbs no thicker than 8 inches, piles no taller than 4 feet and no longer than 10, cut ends pointing at the road or driveway, and the whole pile 5 feet back from the road and out of gutters, alleys, easements and tree strips. Keep it away from buildings, fences and power lines, and at least 6 feet from a power pole. Pull out any wire, nails or rubbish. You start with an online form giving your property details and an estimate of the pile sizes. The council also asks you to log the hours you spend on the work, because those hours count toward the grant match that keeps the service free. Where this comes from
